Wellingtons

These are the new Wellies I got for K yesterday from Sears for just $7.

Although things have been going wrong (irregular bowel movements, night waking and hyperactivity), K still has some great days along with all of this.

So despite my general scepticism about any noticeable "gains", I must say some cool things happened today for the first time.

When going out this morning with his dad, I asked K to put on his shoes. He put on his own socks without a fuss (he usually fumbles and throws a fuss and wants me to do it for him). He then reached for his shoes but the boots distracted him and he reached for them instead. He took them out, but then got a bit cranky and started putting on his other shoes instead (the ones I had asked him to wear, because he knows to do what he is told).
However, for the first time in his life he consciously CHOSE something he wanted for himself. I asked him "Boots?" and he readily put those on instead. You could tell he was pleased with himself. I said "Wow that's nice K" and he repeated "Its nice, its good"! tapping his boots on the floor.

I really enjoyed that. I always envy other children arguing away with their parents about what they want to buy, eat, wear. K just puts on whatever he is given and the only thing he has ever asked me for is juice.

When he came back home, he looked at me, patted me on my tummy and said Hi! (That has never happened before).

It is a washout weekend, just rain and storms. Summer is slipping away, and I have a feeling the weather is not going to get any better. Who cares though, because we have wellies!

Those are a fierce looking pair of boots though, I must say.
